Recipient delivery / virtual card
Treat virtual delivery as a complete recipient journey
Fast digital handoff is only useful when recipients can recognize the message, reach the correct access experience, and recover when something goes wrong.
Map delivery beyond the send event
Document the provider handoff, notification channel, destination page, any required verification, card access, instructions, and service ownership. A sent email is an operational event, not proof that the recipient completed the journey.
Design for ordinary failure states
Plan for bounced messages, filtered email, expired links, changed recipient details, incompatible devices, repeated attempts, and questions about legitimacy. Each case needs a safe recovery path and a named owner.

Keep sensitive data with the responsible provider
Merchant communications should not expose full card information or authentication material. The authorized provider experience should control sensitive card access under the approved program design.
Plan for clear delivery
Connect the Shopify purchase to a responsible customer payout journey.
Bring the merchant objective, eligible purchase concept, recipient experience, and unresolved program dependencies.
