Payout controls / disclosures
Put the important conditions where the customer needs them
A promotional payout offer should explain the purchase conditions before checkout and provide the relevant delivery and card information at the later steps. A single distant policy link cannot do all of that work.
Match the information to the decision
The customer needs different information before buying and when receiving a card.
| Moment | Information to make understandable |
|---|---|
| Before purchase | The promotion, qualifying purchase, period, material exclusions, and required actions. |
| During qualification | The decision stage and how to ask about the outcome. |
| At delivery | Access instructions, card conditions, and appropriate support. |
| After an order change | The relevant promotional conditions and the order-support route. |
Keep permission questions separate
Receiving a promotional benefit and agreeing to future marketing are not interchangeable decisions. Review which notices, acknowledgments, or permissions apply to the actual journey with qualified advisers. Do not assume that a qualifying purchase grants permission for every future message.
Use precise role descriptions
Identify the merchant's offer and the issuer's card responsibilities without implying that the store is a bank or that a network endorses the promotion. Visa and Mastercard references remain descriptive and subject to the particular program's terms. This guidance is not legal advice.
Plan for clear delivery
Plan a clear path from purchase to promotional payout.
Discuss the offer, customer expectations and the next program decision.
