Payout programs / eligibility
Explain what qualifies before the customer buys
An eligible payout is a promotional benefit for a customer whose purchase meets the offer conditions. An order confirmation alone does not establish that every condition has been met.
Start with the offer customers can recognize
Describe the relevant Shopify products or collections, campaign period, and material exclusions in the offer terms. Explain any required customer action and when qualification will be assessed. Avoid making customers infer eligibility from a general phrase such as 'rewards on orders'.
Resolve the questions that change the outcome
A merchant should be able to answer each question consistently before promoting the offer.
- Does the offer apply to the complete order or selected products?
- Which event starts the qualification review?
- How do cancellations, returns, or changes affect the decision?
- What must a customer do if the stated next step does not arrive?
Separate pending from not eligible
A pending decision means the necessary review has not concluded. It should not be communicated as a rejection or as a guarantee of payment. When a decision is complete, the explanation should point to the relevant offer condition and a suitable support route. Any later change follows the actual program terms, not an assumed universal policy.
Plan for clear delivery
Plan a clear path from purchase to promotional payout.
Discuss the offer, customer expectations and the next program decision.
